Who is she?
Grace is the frontwoman of punk-rock band Against Me! In 2012 she publicly came out as transgender and has been very open about her transition since then.
Why is she so badass?
Against Me! were due to play a concert in North Carolina on May 15th, however on March 23rd North Carolina passed ‘House Bill 2’ banning transgender people from certain public bathrooms. Many famous acts pulled out of their gigs in the state, including Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams. However, Grace publicly stated that Against Me! would still play the concert.
It was suggested to me in an interview that we might cancel our May 15th show in Durham, NC because of the states HB2 bill. Hell no! (1/2)

Grace’s defiance against ‘House Bill 2’ that overrides LGBT ordinances in the state is truly admirable, with her stating in an interview with Buzzfeed news that;
“I’m going to create an event around the show as a form of protest to say that despite whatever stupid laws they enact, trans people are not going to be scared. They are not going to go away.”
Grace has also stated that Springsteen and Adams cancelling their gigs in the state is “commendable” and that she will definitely talk about transgender issues on stage.
“When you feel targeted as a trans person, the natural inclination is to go into hiding. But visibility is more important than ever; to go there and have the platform of a stage to stand on and speak your mind and represent yourself.”
Laura Jane Grace is truly a badass woman in music, and The Sistrhood will be standing there with her.
